The Ultimate Direction Signature Series vests have become staples for trail running, racing ultras, and tackling grueling backcountry objectives, but they can be a little intimidating for folks taking their first forays into the world of trail running. It’s nice to see a slightly de-tuned vest pack offering that is equally suitable for day hiking too. This pack uses Ultimate Direction’s Comfort Glide fit system so that you can better dial in overall fit instead of just adjusting the sternum straps (it has those too). It comes with a 1.5L reservoir and also has up front water bottle pockets if that’s your preferred way to carry hydration. There are multiple harness pockets, a small stretch mesh stash pocket (perfect for a discarded layer), and a roll-top closure main storage pocket.
