Runners ask an awful lot of a pack when they expect it to store everything they need, keep what’s needed in easy reach, but at the same time fit and “carry” as though it’s not there at all. Sounds like a search for a unicorn, but over the years, thanks to its truly apparel-like fit and abundance of well-placed organizational features, the Adv Skin 5 Set has become a favorite of our trail running Gear Specialists. It now gets updated 500ml soft flasks and is compatible with Salomon’s foldable trekking pole-carrying Custom Quiver (sold separately). Even without the quiver, the pack has multiple ways of lashing poles. For the most part, the other organizational features remain unchanged and that’s fine with us since there are numerous stretch and zippered pockets that quietly stow everything needed for hours on the trail and provide a bounce-free up-front carry for the flasks.
