Once an upstart footwear brand, Bozeman, Montana’s Oboz has become an industry leader and an absolute go-to for many a hiker and outdoor explorer. One of the brand’s signature models, the low-cut Sawtooth was such a great option from the start that it went nearly a decade without any real changes. Thankfully, it didn’t need much tweaking, but Oboz updated the styling slightly and is now utilizing updated Cordura and recycled materials for enhanced performance. All the other elements that have made the Sawtooth so beloved have been retained: a hybrid oiled nubuck leather and synthetic mesh upper, a supportive nylon shank, an adaptive foam insole, and a grippy rubber outsole. The shoe is obviously fully trail-ready, but it fits so good and is so comfortable that we find ourselves wearing it every day whether we’re going to sneak in a hike or not. We’re big fans of the highly-breathable Sawtooth X Low but a waterproof/breathable option is available if you’re looking for bolstered weather protection.
