Too often inflatable backpacking pads either lack the insulating warmth necessary for true year-round use or they’re heavier and bulkier than we want to be hauling around in our packs. The Eclipse All-Season isn’t heavy, isn’t bulky, and, with imbedded sheets of heat-reflective material and an R-value of 6.2, it most certainly has all the insulating warmth we need to venture out in any season with confidence. Unlike a lot of air pads, its unique quilted baffling provides excellent stability without any bouncing or shifting that could wake you up when you change sleeping positions during the night. And the fabric is nice and quiet too, which also helps you actually stay asleep. Yes, you have to blow it up, but the included pump sack takes all the work out of inflation and, by only introducing dry air into the pad, it extends the life of the pad by keeping moisture from getting in and staying stuck inside the pad.
