Marmot really reimagined the Limelight this year which had us initially holding our breath. Whenever you’ve known and loved something this iconic for as long as we have, it always makes you nervous to learn that it’s changing. Turns out, we didn’t need to worry, as the redesign makes this tent even better! The Limelight has always offered a nice of balance of weight, space, and durability at a reasonable price and that’s certainly still the case. A nifty patterning change has kicked out the sides of the tent at one end to create internal “side wings” that are basically built-in gear closets. They’re great for stowing anything you want to keep in close reach but don’t want to take up space devoted to your sleeping bag or that you’d otherwise find yourself rolling on top of during the night. The wings basically fill the deep corners of the exterior vestibules that often aren’t utilized at all anyway and there’s still plenty of external storage available in the dual vestibules too. Adding additional value, Marmot includes a free footprint and incorporates an internal laundry line, interior gear pockets, and a “lampshade” pocket that converts a headlamp (not included) to an ambient light source.
