Exped Ultra 3R

As one of the earliest innovators of inflatable backpacking pads, Exped took a step back to see if there was a way to simplify the selection process for any backpacker trying to decide on which pad is best for her or him.  Naming conventions can be confusing and often don’t give a lot of insight into exactly what you’re getting or how “warm” a pad actually is and Exped felt certain there was a simpler way. Their new Ultra series of mats cater specifically to anyone in search of ultra-lightweight construction and compactness. The higher the number assigned to the pad, the warmer it is.  Our Gear Specialists love the Ultra 3R which hits a perfect sweet-spot for 3-season use. It packs down small and weighs right around a pound. Like many pad offerings, it is available in varying lengths and widths, but unlike many pads, there’s no cost penalty for choosing a larger size.  Instead of having to compromise to save dollars, you can choose the size that suits you best and get it without a surprise upcharge at the register.
