There is a long list of things to love about the new Futura Air Trek packs. For starters, they use the cooling trampoline-style suspension system for which Deuter is renowned, but also incorporate a lightweight, load-supportive perimeter frame, torso-length adjustability, and a pivoting hipbelt that aids in stabilization. And we love the access. You can pop the lid and get in through the top like a traditional top loader, but there is a large luggage-style zippered opening and a separate dedicated sleeping bag compartment. If that’s not enough storage for you, there are lid pockets, hipbelt pockets and a large stretch dump pocket. Deuter even throws in a protective rain cover so you can keep roaming regardless of conditions. We love these versatile extended weekend capacities, but there are also larger versions for anyone staying out longer or taking more with her or him.
