The high-powered Onsight was purpose-built for climbers venturing out onto big walls even after the sun has set, but its performance features strike us as being ideal for hiking and trail running too. With a hybrid “Dual-Fuel” design that allows the rechargeable headlamp to accept alkaline batteries too, it is even something backpackers can consider for their illumination needs. On its standard setting, the light casts a wide beam with 300 lumens of brightness, but it also switches quickly to a “Route-Finder” mode which narrows the focus but ups the distance illuminated by cranking up to 375 lumens. The housing of the lamp is slim and lightweight with built-in articulation and the power source is tucked at the back of the adjustable headband.
