Depending on conditions or the season, traditional closed-cell foam pads are still as reliable a sleeping pad option as there is. There is nothing to inflate or deflate and the weight is usually insignificant in comparison to inflatable or open-cell foam pads. Great, but what’s so special about the TwisterCane? Well, it is the first pad made entirely of renewable sugarcane biomass and it is produced through a carbon-negative process that meets exacting Proforest standards for environmental accountability. Hopefully in future seasons, this type of manufacturing can become the norm instead of the exception, but for now Big Agnes is taking the lead on sustainability while continuing to deliver the comfort and durability demanded by backpackers and alpinists.
