At this point, Big Agnes has been making performance air pads for two decades but they’re never content to rest solely on their laurels. The brand new Rapide SL delivers the weight and packed size to please stickler backpackers, but it doesn’t skimp on quality or performance to achieve those specifications. Double ripstop fabric is incredibly tough as is the welded aviation-grade lamination that creates the “quilted” sleeping surface that shames the pool raft-like air pads of yesteryear. Top-notch PrimaLoft Synthetic insulation and a layer of heat-reflective film grant the pad a 4.2 R-Value which is suitable for all but the absolute coldest temperatures. Throw in an inflation sack to take the huffing and puffing out of blowing up the pad and you’ve got an ideal option to throw in your pack for a comfortable night of sleep at the end of each day of hiking.
