But nostalgia only goes so far if you’re stuck with a retro-style tent that doesn’t actually serve as the shelter you need it to. No worries there with the Gold Camp 5 Tarp. Its single center pole allows for easy set-up with stake-out loops and guyout lines to ensure a taut and stable pitch. There’s a large main front door but an awning-style rear door does provide a second point of entry and exit. The polyester taffeta tarp has a PU coating and taped seams to make certain the interior stays dry and built-in mesh-lined vents help to prevent the condensation you may have had with tarp tents of old. You can even add to the versatility of the shelter with an accessory footprint and a mesh inner tent (both sold separately). Big Agnes is also offering the tent in ultra-lightweight versions and in 3-person size variations.
