We’re not sure how a truly mountain-worthy trail running shoe can be as light as the Tomir and still deliver high-mileage performance, but it is, and it does. The supple, breathable monofilament-and-TPU upper is craft-stitched to the midsole for enhanced durability and it teams with asymmetric lacing to comfortably hug your foot. A deep foam midsole offers excellent underfoot shock-absorption without feeling overly soft or unstable like too many max-cushioned shoes we’ve run in. And it all perches on a premium Vibram Litebase midsole and traction lugs that give you a close-to-the-trail feel while holding up mile after mile. One of NNormal’s founding principles was a stated intent to build product with longer-lived performance and one of our Gear Specialists who has logged a few hundred technical miles in a pair of Tomirs has glowingly reported that the uppers and outsoles continue to look untouched, and the midsole has retained its responsiveness without any apparent drop-off in cushioning.
