Cassie’s Pick: NEMO Double Haul Convertible Duffel 55L

I’ll confess; I hardly ever use the NEMO Double Haul as a duffel because I love the structured tote setup so much! It’s great for bulky items that don’t easily fit in other bags or storage when I’m packing for camping, and I can use either the tote handles or the shoulder strap to get it to the campsite and back. It can even become a backpack if you need to hike in to your site a bit! It’s super tough and durable, and the coated fabric means I can put it down wherever without worrying about anything soaking through from the ground.

Morgan’s Pick: GSI Outdoors Pinnacle Pro Dual Stove

Style doesn’t typically equal substance, but the Pinnacle Pro stove is an exception and certainly catches my eye. Despite the overabundant and alluring gleam of stainless steel, this stove is a solid performer that gives me plenty of landscape to cook with a variety of pots and pans, whether for a few or the masses.  Its skinny pack-down form allows me to consider it for many more outdoor applications a full-sized camp stove would be cumbersome. As a self-proclaimed foodie having the same level of culinary abilities outdoors as I do in my kitchen makes dinner time something to look forward to. Paired with the companion travel case (sold separately ) it is a vital piece of my car camp loadout.

Nicholas’ Pick: Eagle Creek Cargo Hauler 40L Duffel

I was tired of the torn zippers and holes patched with duct tape. It was time to say goodbye to my old generic duffle and invest in something reliable. I settled on the Eagle Creek Cargo Hauler 60L, and boy, does it deliver. It all starts with the rugged exterior. 800D on 5 sides and a whopping 1680D Ballistic Polyester on the padded bottom absolutely exceed my needs – and it’s all water resistant! The giant U-Shaped zipper for the main compartment works well, and 2 large outside pockets are big enough for extra shoes. After exhausting travel days, the tuckaway backpack straps are wonderful for climbing flights of stairs, and I frequently use the many handles and lash points for attaching pillows, hats, and last-minute items. This duffle has been my travel buddy for 1000s of miles and still looks brand new. Finally, luggage I can rely on.

Steven’s Pick: BioLIte Charge 80 PD Power Bank

I sure love getting off the grid and leaving the world behind but that doesn’t mean I want my headlamp to conk out by the end of the second night or not be able to take pics because my phone has run out of power. The BioLite Charge 40 ensures that my electronics aren’t dead weight along the way. It’ll fully restore a phone at least twice on a single charge and repower my headlamp or GPS too all while weighing less than 8 ounces and fitting in any pocket or bit of extra space in my pack.  Despite its lightweight design, it is really rugged and even after a few years of abuse it looks like new.  It makes a great travel companion too and accompanies me on every flight, overnight stay, or long drive.

Cheyne’s Pick: Exped Typhoon Waterproof Day Pack

I’ve owned my fair share of packs over the years, and one of my all time favorites is the Exped Typhoon. It functions like a roll top dry bag, with the comfort of a regular day pack. When I’m walking creeks with my dogs in the summer or going on fast and light wet weather hikes, this is the perfect bag. It protects your gear from wet weather and muddy trails with a padded back panel and shoulder straps that actually feel good, unlike a lot of other trimmed down waterproof bags. I appreciate that the hip belt can be used or removed easily to adapt to different adventures. I also love the size since it’s compact but effective for most day outings. I’ve even strapped this thing to a horse for a 20 mile ride in the back country and it held up really well! If you’re looking for a simple day bag that’s comfortable, waterproof, and durable this is a fantastic option.

Becky’s Pick: NEMO Switchback Closed Cell Foam Sleeping Pad

Out of all the gear in my closet, the item with the most mileage, hands down, is my NEMO Switchback Sleeping Pad. I actually have 4 of them – one for each member of my family. I’ve used the Switchback for its classic purpose as a backpacking sleeping pad, but its shape-shifting accordion fold design enables it to be so much more! It’s a kid’s booster seat at a picnic table, a spot to sit on our paddle boards, and a landing pad at the entrance to our tent. I’ve used it as a quick cover over my pack in the rain, a makeshift camera stand, a baby changing pad, a pillow, and as extra cushioning on an Adirondack chair. I’m always finding new uses for it, so if you don’t have one yet, pick one up and it’ll quickly become your favorite piece of gear too.

Mandy’s Pick: BioLite Luci Original Solar-Powered LED Lantern

My Luci Lantern is a must-have for every camping trip. It’s ultra-lightweight, folds completely flat, and takes up virtually no space in my gear. I just leave it in the sun to charge during the day, and by evening, it’s ready to cast a cozy glow over my camp table. No batteries, no hassle—just simple, reliable light. A seriously underrated piece of gear for nights in the outdoors!
